Ordering during COVID-19
With the change that Covid-19 has brought to our world, Desert Springs Farm has had to make some major adjustments to make sure you are getting our delicious fresh products safely and efficiently. Specifically, this has made major changes to our procedures to our Microgreen sales. Thank you for your patience with us as we not only launch a new business but make changes on the fly!
To guarantee your desired microgreens and quantity, all pre-orders must be received on a Monday by midnight and they will be ready to pick up the following Friday. For example: order Monday April 13, 2020 and pick up your order by Friday April 24, 2020. We will accept standing orders with pick ups available weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. All orders must be placed through our website: https://www.desertspringsmedhat.com/-microgreens-order-page
Once a pre-order is placed we will confirm via email and then send an invoice to you as a reminder of your order with pick up date and final price.
Each Friday, effective Friday April 24, we will continue to have additional microgreens that will be available for sale on a first come first serve basis. Microgreens
Microgreens we grow:
Speckled Peas – are a deliciously sweet, crunchy, and fresh microgreen that tastes just like fresh from the garden peas. Our speckled peas are chalked full of vitamins A, B, C and E, calcium, chlorophyll, iron, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, and amino acids.
Sunflower – nutty, fresh, and crunchy are the best ways to describe this powerhouse, especially since it is a great source of protein, vitamins A, B6, D, and E, calcium, iron, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, and dietary fiber.
Triton Radish – with a bit of spice and a slightly floral note, these crunchy and succulent microgreens are a great protein source and a very good source of vitamins A, B6, C, E, K, calcium, carotenes, folic acid, iron, magnesium, niacin, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc.
Purple Kohlrabi – defined as mildly peppery and sweet, this microgreen also can have notes of cabbage or broccoli. It’s intensely purple colouring makes it a hit visually as it adds a huge pop of colour to any meal. Kohlrabi contains antioxidants, calcium, copper, fiber, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and B-complex.
Oriental Mustard – has a brilliantly bold mustard flavour that is perfectly balanced with a hit of spice. This mustard is a powerhouse of protein and a great source of antioxidants, calcium, fiber, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamins A, B6, C, E, and K, and zinc.
Broccoli Raab – surprisingly, this microgreen is related closely to turnips, which explains why the leaves look a lot like turnip greens. Broccoli Raab probably descends from a wild herb related to the turnip that grew either in China or the Mediterranean region. Also known as Rapini, this microgreen is common in the cuisines of Italy, Spain, and China and is seriously rich in antioxidants, calcium, chlorophyll, isothiocyanates, and vitamin A & C with a lower sulforaphane content.
Kale – with a rich flavour reminiscent of nuts or broccoli, this microgreen is one of the most nutritious super-foods known. Kale microgreens are high in vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, as well as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, carotene, amino acids, and protein. They also contain sulphoraphane, a compound thought to have powerful cancer fighting qualities.
